I agree few more bolts won't hurt, just so people stay safe. I know of at least one other person, who is experienced, who has fallen on snake dike, and doing the slab run down the face until their rope caught. If any person don't like the bolts, don't clip the bolt, and you can talk about how badass you are. If you can't help but clip it, that's on you. There's a prior-art to this, people have climbed hard bolted sports climbs using trad gear, not using the bolts, same idea. Leave the bolts so some gumby doesn't come by and blow out their talus bone from their feet on a major whipper.

It’s Yosemite… I don’t see a problem with the route. Keep it old school so that there’s not a lot of people climbing it.

I don't think it'll happen. Hand drilling is hard labor. New bolts in between the old ones wouldn't stand a chance there. Shippoopi would leave them at the base under a pile of his excrement. Replacing the old bolts would be good commie service, though.

Agreed! 💯! I use to climb at Stoney Point and had the privilege of meeting Lynn in JT and Boulder! She is so down to Earth! Back in the early 2000’s when I was actually climbing, I remember being in JT at Kevin Powell’s house and Lynn was walking up to the door. Me and my climbing partner Carrie were totally freaking out! I mean it was LYNN HILL and she was about to walk in the house! Lynn gave me great advice on how to work with a negative wing span. I used it for years. She also told me about how she took that bad fall because she got distracted while tying in and hadn’t finished her figure eight knot and her jacket was covering her tie in area. She really taught me how VITAL it is to always ALWAYS double up and double check no matter what and no matter how seasoned a climber is!

In theory though if you use the double rope dulfersitz you could go balcony to balcony down a building , if you had 4 times the distance between floors yes no? but if you use a single rope it has to be tied off and once you reach the end of the rope your descent is over yes no?

Revisionist shite. The actual and true stone monkey was Johnny Dawes. Who made the 1980's movie, Stone Monkey. With an endless ability to push grades, and relied on a style that was dynamic, balance and motion.

Dawes is in your video from 2:09 to 2:24, and was a well qualified "dirtbag climber" famously living through the 1980's in tents and unemployment benefit. See book by Paul Pritchard.

I think switching climbing styles isnt just that simple. If he did in fact play more to a slower more deliberated style not only do I think his bouldering would suffer, but it is not said he would make up for it in his lead. If anything I would imagine it could leave him a somewhat mediocre version of meghos or Ondra. With the offside his slower style wouldnt benefit from Ondras longer limbs. In addition his more dynamic style probably translates better into speed climbing. Hence his better results in that. I dont think we can deny that recently bouldering competitions seem to cater to more dynamic climbing anywyas.

In 1991 I took part in a local climbing competition. It was close to his hometown, so the organiser invented Wolfgang as a VIP guest. I came in 4th place. After the climbing competition, Wolfgang was supposed to show everyone how it's done. Surprisingly, he only got 2 moves further than me. Our climbing god was sweating and breathing heavily, almost like a human made of flesh and blood. On the one hand, Wolfgang was in a class of his own, but on the other hand he was also a friend, a climber like you and me. And then, it was in the summer of 1992, my old boss (I hated him) came up to me and with a grin, told me the news he had read about in the newspaper, that the "German climbing world champion" had an accident. I couldn't continue working, so I had to get a newspaper and hoped that somehow it was someone else and not Wolfgang. But unfortunately my worst fears came true. A sad day for all of us

I led this 30 years ago. I was climbing well in my youth solid 5.9 / 5.10 and come from the British trad community. Snakedyke was in theory well under my grade.... I can say that the run outs made it one of my most memorable climbing adventures ever! keep it as it is and let more generations of climbers enjoy adventure...and gain skills on the way.
